Manitoba’s First Internationally Recognized Coach Training Certificate Program

Interpersonal Wellness Services Inc is pleased to announce they now offer Manitoba’s first internationally approved coach training program, granted in February 2013.  International Coach Federation (ICF), the leading global organization that governs executive, life and leadership coaching designations, has granted approval status to Interpersonal Wellness Certified Coach training program.  This program is now approved to offer 90 coach specific training hours (ACSTH).
Joyce Odidison, owner of Interpersonal Wellness Services Inc and designer of the coach training program also holds the ICF second highest designation, professional certified coach (PCC). For the past four years, Joyce has worked hard to bring this world class, first-of-its-kind coach training to Manitoba. This approval means that prospective coaches in and around Manitoba now have an affordable and credible
option for their education.

In September 2012, the ICF also approved their wellness facilitator training program for 24 continuing coach education credits (CCE). Anyone pursuing ICF coaching designation or needing to recertify can earn up to 114 approved credit hours through IWS Coaching institute.

The significance of the ICF Approval

Coaching, though deemed one of the fastest growing professions in the world, is not licensed. This means that anyone can claim to be a coach without training or certification without challenge. It is up to the consumer purchasing coaching services to ensure that their coach belong to an organization that holds them accountable to uphold ethical standards. ICF is the largest globally recognized body for the coaching profession. They set ethical standards and core competencies, and serve as a benchmark for large organizations that are looking to hire qualified coaches. The significance of ICF approval is great and gives more credibility to the IWCC training program.

The IWCC program offers 90 ACTSH which includes:

  • 75 hours of instructing
  • 60 hours of coaching practicum hours
  • 10 hours of mentor coaching
  • A core competency comprehension written exam

Last year, our program began a 36 transfer credit agreement with the University of Manitoba’s certificate in adult and continuing education program. Our program continues to establish strategic alliances with other institutions and learning bodies.
